Hi all, just registered as would very much like some advice and guidance,

My name is Ian and I am very nearly 40 and have been working for a dive center in Crete, mostly in the sales part, flogging DSD's to tourists and doing pool demos for about 3 years, and have managed to crawl my way up in that time to rescue and hoping to secure my DM this season,

what i wanted to ask is about working in Egypt during Sept/Oct to april.

I don't speak any othe language except a little Greek and a very little German - enough to explain the briefing for a pool sesion.

any advice however negative would be very welcome, at this stage I'm just doing some homework,

thanks in advance

Ian

Welcoem to the ScubaBoard! Good luck with your work search!

After working a season with you Ian, I think you'd be a great opportunity for any DC :thumb:

In Egypt, have a look at Emperor.
They have a DC in a lot of diving locations along the Red Sea coast but not sure wether they employ DM.
Maybe Colona DC (scandinavians mainly), I've seen english-only speaking DM guiding for them but no idea about the work conditions.
Good luck anyway !

Welsome to ScubaBoard. I spent about 10 days on Crete back in 1968. No SCUBA, only free diving for me on that trip. I loved the island and Greece so much, when I moved to Catalina Island a year later I stayed. It is very similar to the Greek islands, but they speak English. No ouzo here when I arrived, but I soon changed that!

Best fishes.
