Hello, all. I've been lurking here for a bit and finally decided to get off the fence and post, so I figured I'd introduce myself so you guys know a little about who just jumped in. :D My name is Paige and I'm 23 years old and from Alabama. I finally decided to get into scuba and am planning on starting my OW class in just a couple weeks. My parents are divers and my dad has been trying to get me to get certified for awhile. At first, I had the typical "No way! Have you SEEN Open Water?" reaction. Then, I finally started college and saw a SCUBA class on the list and started thinking about it, but they weren't offering it this semester and I was still pretty hesitant. My boyfriend (also a diver) gave me the final push when he sent me a picture of the flags from the Oriskany. ("Oh, cool! You see things like that down there? I wanna see it!") So...I got my course books and found ScubaBoard and am now hooked. I got to go down to Gulf Shores and bubble watch as they dove the Jetties and the Whiskey Boat and spent the entire time wishing I was down there. Especially after I saw the pictures from the second dive (no pics from the Jetties...someone...who was in charge of the camera...forgot to turn it on before tossing it out to her boyfriend...). So, if things go right, I (think) will be getting my OW cert at Vortex on the weekend of October 20th!

Hi Paige and Welcome to :sblogo:

Welcome to Scubaboard. Good to have you here. Enjoy the forums.

I am sure we will meet, being from the same area, and your boyfriend dives some of my favorite sites.

Hi Paige. Welcome to scuba diving and welcome to ScubaBoard. You are going to love this sport. If you are ever over in Decatur, stop by and introduce yourself. Thanks.

Hello Paige,
Another Alabama diver saying welcome to the board! I am only 45 minutes North of you but I actually grew up on Smith Lake. You are going to love diving! Where/Who are you getting certification?
There is a group, there are others too, all good, in this area that gets together every month called SEAS. Let me know if that interests you.

The tune, "It's a Small World" is playing in my head right now, lol. You're actually one of the few on here that I've met already. :D I came into DiveSports about a week ago and talked to you. :)

Hello,
I'm orginally from AL, but have left to teach Scuba around the globe - mainly OZ. I most recently have been teaching scuba for South Beach Diver's in Miami/Key Largo. I have now moved back to Birmingham a few months ago and an looking to get back into tech diving as I'm no longer teaching at the moment. I was wondering if there is anyone who would like to do some tech dives at ABWA to practice skills?

First of all welcome to the board. Second, I am not tech diving currently, (Plan on some cavern training near the end of the year) but there are plenty of tech divers at ABWA. What do you do on a "Tech" dive at ABWA?
