Hello everyone,

I am completing new to diving and have recently passed my BSAC ocean diver level. The first thing I need from the forum is advice on equipment --- so I will be logging on a lot at least initially and finding my way around and reading all the advice about gear!

Welcome Kathryn! You'll find lots and lots of advice here. Take it all in and digest it. It has helped me immensely and I'm sure you'll find it useful as well.

Hello Kathryn,

it’s about time you surfaced here! :)

Click [thread=91105]here[/thread] for ScubaBoard 101: [thread=91105]A beginner's guide to the ScubaBoard.Com forums[/thread].

Don’t forget to fill out your Public Profile (and Dive Info) on one of your next surface intervals so we can get to know you a little bit better. Besides, it will make it easier for us to answer your questions. Please, do add a Profile Pic. You might even add an avatar (you know, the small pic on the left of this post). If you’re not in a particularly creative mood, you can have a look at my Public Profile for inspiration.

As a newly addicted diver, you may want to pick up some pointers and advice in our newbee forum: New Divers & Those Considering Diving.

For local info and/or (future) buddies, just follow the path or have fun along the way by clicking on any of the given links: ScubaBoard > Regional Travel & Dive Clubs > Europe > UK Wreck Ferrets.

Well, you asked for it. Here it is, El Orans’ Guide to Gear Selection:
Apeks - Cressi - Halcyon.

If you want even more choice, here’s the extended version.

Gear Selection:
:06: Buoyancy Compensators (BC's) and weight systems
:06: Computers, Gauges, Watches & Analyzers
:06: Exposure Suits
:06: Fins, Masks & Snorkels
:06: Regulators

Be wise, get dive insurance! You just might need it on your next dive…
DAN: America / Europe / Japan / South-East Asia Pacific / Southern Africa.
Of course, there are other dive insurance providers as well: NAUI, PADI, etc..

Any other questions? Just click this link: Send me a PM!
