I got my Padi OW cert in 1999 while in the Marines, made 20 or 30 dives and then got transferred to Califonia a year later, and have not been diving since.

Looking to get back into it, I'm gonna take a refresher course in a few weeks, buy some gear and dive away LOL Maybe get may Advance cert soon also.

Maybe make a few trips to Mexico in the future (Cabo or La Paz) and dive around the local areas here...like the Channel Islands.

Looking forward to learning some good info from you all

hi ted! well, you can't go wrong diving the channel islands. they have some of the best diving in the world there. i.m.h.o. the value for the dollar is hard to beat no matter what kind of diving that you like to do, whether it be photography, sightseeeing, spearfishing, lobstering, or just diving for the pure fun of it. i dive off of the truth aquatics boats 5-7 time a year, and i don't think that there is a better run organization than them. good luck, maybe i'll see you on one of truth's boat in the future. ken

Welcome to the board!

Channel Islands is great diving, I've flown out there from here just for it. But you have good boat and shore diving there at Deigo and La Jolla. Check our Southern California dive club forum here.

BTW, I did Boot at Diego in '67. Had a long plane layover there in '88, rented a car, and drove over to visit MCRD. Still made me nervous. :11: My dad did his Sea School there before going out as a Seagoing Marine on the Intrepid. Many fond memories....
