My wife and I are heading to Bonaire for the first time in October (Oct. 10-17). We are looking forward to it. We will be staying at Buddy Dive Resort.

If anyone has any pointers that would be appreciated. We have completed everything for our Advanced OW dive including Nitrox except one checkout dive on navigation. Hoping Buddy will help us out with that on one of our dives while we are there. There should be plenty of time.

Thanks again for any input you may have!

They have a very good drive-through tank system, even for Nitrox.

Nice accommodations, good gear, great people. Excellent breakfast buffet (you can easily miss lunch). We've been there about 6 times. ;)

Corinna Wegerer was the dive shop mgr when we were there last. She & her husband Hagen go out of their way to make your dives the best they can be.

Do you have any specific questions?

Do you have any specific questions?

For my navigation check out dive, can I just arrange that when I get there or should I contact them in advance. I wouldn't think there would be that much to it. I don't know how to contact the dive shop specifically, only the travel agent for Buddy Dive in Boston.

Here is a link to their website:

I would suggest contacting them directly prior to your arrival to make arrangements.

BTW, there is a mandatory dive briefing and check out dive on Bonaire prior to being able to dive, regardless of cert level or location on the Island. At that time you also purchase a tag which you must wear on your BC.

Have fun,

Have fun at BD, we were there in July. Corrina is still the shop manager. I would agree that you should go ahead and email the shop but they have always been very helpful to us. Do a search on this board on Bonaire. Myself and others have posted a lot of useful tips here over the years. Also, come join us on the Bonaire board, anything you ever wanted to know about Bonaire can be found there. www.bonairetalk.com

Here is another web site you might find interesting. It has some 360deg photos of Bonaire on it. http://www.virtualbonaire.com/

I just got back from Bonaire and stayed at Buddy Dive. Take a look at my trip report. Corrina and Hagen are great as is Buddy Dive. The diving was excellent and we are definately going back. Tell Hagen you talked to his new friends from TX who "penetrated the Hooker" in August. He'll get a big laugh out of that. Have fun!
