My boyfriend and I are headed to the Occidental Xcaret on 11/14.

We are still uncertain how much diving we want to do while there. Should we just go through the resort? Or is there a local operation who will pick us up?

I KNOW I want to see the Cenotes as part of our stay. The rest is up in the air.

Any suggestions?

My wife and I are going to Cataloma Royal Tulum 11-16 though the 23rd and last year when we dove with ProDive Mexico and they were great and we will use them extensivly this year, we tried out 3 different shops last year and these guys were far and away the best we dealt with. Do a cenote dive if you can, it sounds boring but it is really cool, we took a cozumel excursion and that was really nice as well. Hope this helps.

My wife and I have stayed at The Occidental Grand Xcaret for the last two years and loved the property and the staff. You should have a great time. Although there is an on-site dive op, affiliated with a large international company, they do not run their diveboats from the property and you will need to be transported off site. I won't comment on their company as I have no first hand experience and that would not be fair but I can highly recommend Diablo Divers/Aquanauts located in Puerto Aventuras. I have had 26 dives with them, both ocean and cenote, and they run a great operation. Small groups, great divemasters and they will be able to pick you up/drop you off at the hotel. On this discussion board you will find numerous recommendations about Diablo so I doubt you will be disappointed. Cenote dives are a whole different experience and hopefully you follow through with your intent to try them. While at the hotel make sure that you take advantage of the passes to the Xcaret park....well worth the time spent.

Another recommendation for Diablo Divers/Dennis Weeks. My husband has done guided cave dives with Dennis, and liked him enormously. They run a very good operation, out of Puerto Aventuras, which is not terribly far from Xcaret. You can do both open water dives and cenote dives with them. My husband did both, and was pleased.

I've dove with Dive Aventuras on 3 different trips and highly recommend them. I've got no reason to look for another dive operation in the Puerto Aventuras area. I've done the Cenotes on two occassions. Their timing is excellent. On each trip (4 dives) we've been the only ones in the Cenote as the early crowd had all left.

Their great to work with and it seems like visiting family.

We booked with Jason for Sunday and Monday. I can't wait!

I dove in the lake up here today and the water was a 50 degrees!
