My whole family is headed to Kona this Saturday for a week of diving and sightseeing. We've booked three days with Kona Honu Divers, including the manta dive. I'm planning to finish certifying my daughter on Monday...any recommendations on an easy entry beach dive?

The beach off the King Kamehameha hotel is easy, although you'll need to do a bit of a swim out for decent diving around the corner. Parking will be a hassle and you'll need to drop off gear and have someone watch it while you park.

The Place of Refuge down south is an easy entry as long as the surf isn't up big. Just step off the rocks at "two step" and you are ready to go. There are generally lots of divers there so you should be able to ask someone at the site about current conditions.

Have fun,

I concur - Place of Refuge is really good for novice divers and your daughter will love all of the turtles!!!

Enjoy
