This is footage of 3 lionfish that were captured in the Florida Keys and then placed in my aquarium. I filmed this HD slow motion footage of them feeding so that we could document for Changing Seas (YouTube - ChangingSeasTV's Channel) just how ferocius these fish are. Even in slow motion its still very difficult to catch the action. These fish are so blazing fast when they strike. I'm afraid our reef dwellers in Florida don't stand a chance! Who's with me? Let's go get em!

While I agree with the Lion Fish threat isn't this rather artificial since this video appears to have been filmed within an aquarium?

I am in love with this video! I just got my Lionfish Awareness and Elimination Distinctive Speialty approved by PADI, and we are doing our best to rid Bonaire of any lionfish. Would you mind if i shared this video with my students so they can see what lionfish look like when they hunt?

Thank you for posting this

I think the video was made just to show us how FAST the lionfish strike, when they hunt.

I had the good fortune to see this for "real" when we did our trip to the Red Sea. The lionfish just swam idly closer and closer to a small fish, and then WHAM the fish was gone. Just goes to show you that allowing something close to you because it is pretty has its own risks . . . :)
