I recently did a dive on the Yukon in San Diego with the purpose of building detailed photogrammetry models of the famous guns and the propeller.

I just posted the model and story behind the guns. In case you aren't aware, they aren't the original barrels.

The blog post also includes details of building the model.

I've also posted the model on Sketchfab so you can rotate, zoom in, etc.

Next up will be a similar post about the propeller (which also has an interesting story).

@beldridg

Thanks very much. I have 13 dives on the Yukon, 2007-12. I really appreciate having the opportunity to see your 3D model, a much better view than I ever got. Sometimes, I could not see from one end of a barrel to the other.

I look forward to seeing the propeller, does it have Metridium anemonies on it again?

Yup, I've had visibility like that as well.

The prop does not currently have metridiums on it. There are some strawberry anemones though.

The guns were removed from all of these destroyer escorts (the 4 in BC as well). Various "poles" were put back in to simulate them as well.
The mortar tubes were also removed from all except the Columbia which is sunk off Campbell River.

I dont know the official reasons for taking them off
