Hi Guys,
I have been to the Big Iland, and Maui, in September and August and had a great time both times. Now, I am thinking of going to Oahu, but I only have January to go. I read that it's the coolest and rainiest season. My main goal would be to go diving, maybe surf a bit if I can find any spots that are not huge that time of the year.

Have you been there in January? Good experiences?

Thanks a lot,

I live here.

Rain...could happen. But probably will be beautiful. The viz improves as the swell switches to the North shore (most sites on the south, commercially)

My favorite month is usually February, last year being a big exception.

I say..go for it. water around 77 probably, maybe 75.

We can get some very flat seas and some chances to do the best sites.

Yeah, you'll see some awesome surfing on the North Shore-- so you may want to plan that in. It's great there in the Winter.

You'll still get some good diving in on the south, leeward side.

good times on oahu in january!

we shore dive off the south and west shores during that time..
(lanai lookout, blowhole, e-beach, makaha caverns)

and of course the boat dives to the wrecks off waikiki are awesome too.
.. if you're lucky.. you might see the tourist submarines doing passes on the sunken cargo ships..
