Hawaii advice

I hope to visit Honolulu in October. I would like to do 2 or 3 days diving while there. I hope I can get advice on:-

1. Is it worth going to another Island for diving days, or is Ohau on a par with the others?
2. Who should I dive with?
3. Is October an OK time for diving?

I don't like big operations, over regulated, with truck loads of divers.
