The is a new idea of NetDoc's, who asked me to oversee the forum set up for the team. I see myself more of a Cheerleader, but we are having fun trying to be friendly with all new Intros and perhaps even make SBoard even better than we found it.
My part of all this started out with me just being Texas Friendly and greeting every new Intro myself, which in itself was the object of a few good hearted jokes, i.e. "DandyDon the Walmart Greeter," and "Welcome - but it's not official until DandyDon welcomes you," and so on. But in my obsession to leave no new Intro personally ungreeted, I noticed some rotating to page 2 and beyond with only 1 or 2 Greetings. This worried me, costing me sleep, wondering if I would have to give up dive trips, and such. :11:
When I sent some PMs to a few others who were friendly and active on the Intros forum, though, they were more than happy to Welcome the ones I noticed drifting by in the fast roation of posts, and added: "PM me anytime if I can help more." I did, and did, and did, and - recently asked NetDoc if he'd noticed our team work. That's when he came up with the idea, and now - I give you our original Orange Greeter Team...!

If you ever want to look for one, go to the bottom of the main Forums Page, click onot Forum Leaders, and scroll down until you find a blur of Orange! Or check for bright spots on the Active Users list.
The rules and duties of the Team are pretty informal, more like soft guidelines:
But you may ask, How does one get on the Orange Team?!
Good Question, but - Not necessary, not at all. Anyone can Greet new Intros, regardless of how new or old you are here, how many dives you've logged, etc. Sure, compete with the Team and keep them on their toes.
But if you really want to be on, you can ask any Team member to nominate you. We'll discuss you on the closed forum, and if you don't owe money to any of us personally, we'll possibly request you be added. We will look for a member with at least a few months on SB, a significant history of posting (post count), and active history Greeting Intros already.
So, say Howdy to the Greeters as you see them around the forums; I think they're all Scuba divers, even though that's not even a requirement. Take one on a dive, whatever nice things come to mind.
But keep Greeting the new Intros. We don't ever want anyone to go away thinking we're other than the Friendliest Place In Scuba, which we are.

The rules and duties of the Team are pretty informal, more like soft guidelines:
(1) Greet as many new Intros as possible,
(2) Check the Attention Orange Team thread as we notice one slip off of page 1 with less than 6 Welcomes, and
(3) Try to greet those misses.
But you may ask, How does one get on the Orange Team?!
