52 of them, straight up, if I recall. The only real negative to the place.

A matter of opinion on that being the only real negative. We visited there a few trips ago and found the swarms of bugs, oops I mean kids, especially annoying.

Later, Hawk.

Now you've done it!

It's widely known here on SCUBABoard and elsewhere as a place you can take the kids... the whole fammed damily. If you want "adults only", that's CCV. (kids okay in the beach houses)

AKR runs a kids camp so you might go off diving while your kids are learning how a Dolphin makes poopie.

Their bugs are more of the Mosquito variety on that side, versus the Sand Flea (Sand Fly/No-See-Um) over at CCV and FIBR.

A lot of people will say this or that resort or dive op is the best. Aint no such thing- no place works for everybody.

AKR is a great family place, but I feel your pain!

Was just there a few weeks ago and I didn't noticed too many bugs (zero bites), too many kids (4 during the entire stay), or too many stairs (c'mon people it's a 60 sec. climb! :p)

I'm getting all nostalgic just thinking about it. One highlight was meeting a woman in her 80's who had apparently logged over 4000 dives. She was enjoying her 20th stay at AKR. Now that is loyalty.

My wife and I were there in March. I looked like there was plenty to do for non-divers. Dolfin camp, pool side(with bar), horseback riding, snorkling, kayaking, swimming, internet cafe, and trips to town, etc., etc. It was the best vacation we've ever had. We were very pampered. If you haven't done this type of trip before bring extra money for tipping at the end of your trip, roughly 10% of your total. The people that take care of you are exceptional.

I Can't Wait!!

12 more days until I take the 3 kids and the parents to AKR. The kids and I are staying for 2 weeks! They grew up with snorkels in their mouths but are new to SCUBA. I stopped there on a cruise and dove with then for 1 day and vowed to bring the kids. I cant wait!
