Bob, I think the answer to that is to cut the "soft" velcro into 2 long strips about 1/2-3/4 inch wide and then make a "sandwich" of them with the cord in the middle.

In any event, as long as it works!
It didn't ... well, it worked on shore. But we swam straight down to about 100 fsw ... where the octopus den was ... I went to adjust the strobe arm and it "de-segmented" ... leaving me with a dangling strobe. Uncle Pug and I both tried putting it back together (the segments "snap" together, and "snap" apart rather easily) ... but this strobe arm isn't designed to be reconstructed while wearing dry gloves. I attempted a couple of times to just hold the strobe and take a shot ... but somewhere along the way the strobe decided not to fire.

No pictures for this dive ... after getting out of the water, I took the whole thing apart and attempted to troubleshoot ... but something's not working in the strobe. It wasn't the cable ... I couldn't even get it to fire by flashing the camera directly into the optical sensor.

Oh well ... better to happen now than on the week-end trip to Sechelt. I think I'll forget the strobe for a while and just learn how to use the camera (with built-in flash).

A disappointing evening ... I'm truly hoping I didn't just spend a lot of money for something I won't end up liking as much as my little point-n-shoot ...

Well, I found out why the strobe stopped working ... bad battery charger. Took it back and swapped it out for a new one, and the strobe tested out fine. Now all I have to do is figure out how to actually USE the thing ...

The Oly SP-350 is a pretty fine camera for a lot of photography type, even underwater . . . The video limited to 15seconds, so it was quite a frustration to film the grazely moving turtle just for 15 seconds :-)

My SP-350 limits video to anywhere from 20 seconds in 640x480@30fps to 51 minutes in 320x240@15fps. Do we have the same camera? FWIW, mine is new.;)

In max quality (30fps) the camera will only shoot the 20 sec. clips, but you can shoot them repeatedly. I have no idea why, but as you said, if you drop it to 15fps you can shoot for up to 19 minutes at the higher quality non-stop.
