I'd be looking for a new LDS if I were you.

I remember the first time I had my regs serviced. The hp seat went and they started to freeflow. No big deal. Time for service. So I bring them in. Paid a little extra as I bought them online but dealt with it. And I must say he did a great job. Got all the parts back. They were tuned perfect. It was the "HATE LETTER" I got back with the regs that set me off. The regs were full of sand so I rebuilt the octo too. OK but I was a new diver. Just finished dragging them around a quarry :) But the part about the "scratch" in the HP seat (Apeks) and "it didn't come from the factory like that" and the part about "SO HOW DO YOU LIKE DOING CESA'S" and "DON'T LET INCOMPETANTS WORK ON THE INTERNALS" well that really pushed me over the edge. The shop basically accused me of working on, or have someone else work on my reg. That set me off so bad I ordered rebuild kits and have been doing them ever since myself. I don't mind paying for service just spare me the "fear of life support" rhetoric. I can't believe what shops will pull.

that is BS, my regs are Zeagle, no problem with my local shop doing the annual and getting my free parts. Just need proof that it was serviced last year.

the saga continues..........

2 months ago i took my gear to another lds in the richmond area.
i'd received a pm from a sb member telling me of this lds.

yesterday i walked into the shop.
the young lady could not find my gear.
i asked her if i could go in the back of the store.
she took me to their repair area and sitting in the middle of the floor was my gear.

it had not been touched.
they had it for 2 months.

i'm taking my family to grande cayman 8/2/08 for a week.
i need my gear.

the young lady said she would talk to the owner and try to get my gear serviced in time for my trip.
they got me by the nads.

You need to start sending it to someplace that does a lot of Zeagle service and has their act together, even if it means putting it in a box and shipping it there.

As an alternative, you could also look around for a local shop with an excellent service department, buy the regs that they sell and ebay your stuff.

Anyplace that has a service process that lets them leave your gear sitting on the floor isn't professional enough to do the service anyway. It should have been tagged, and added to a service list, with an actual "done by" date or entered into the computer when you brought it in. Anything else is just a guy with a wrench who likes to tinker.

Wow! There are 9 Zeagle dealers in VA, none in DC it seems - go to Zeagle Systems - Scuba Diving Equipment Manufacturer and look. Call around and find one who will get it done.

Or call Larry at Scuabtoys, remind him that he posted on this tread, and ship it to him. He'll get you in shape.

In my business, I depend on local Bike shops for my living, so I tend to have strong sympathies for the LDS sector. That said, not all dive shops are created equal. In my experience, many fail the worst at what should be their number one asset, and that's customer service.

Like you, I've had less than perfect (being REALLY nice here) with regulator service at 2 of the local shops, and have given up, and now use a shop in North Carolina - Air Tech Scuba Services, 919-255-1888 - which has been absolutely spot-on in servicing my regs for the last 4 years. They honor my Scubapro parts warrantee, they listen to me as to my preferences in settings, turnaround is always faster than promised, and have always been 100% professional in every way.

I still give a lot of my business to a LDS, but he doesn't service Scubapro, otherwise I'd give them a chance at the risk of souring a good relationship.

Lesson to the LDS owners out there, from a friend. Your customers don't have any obligation to support you, you have to EARN their loyalty. Service is your best competitive advantage, and you should do your utmost to shine in this area. Late delivery, poor attitude and sloppy work won't cut it. In today's highly competitive market, Good enough, isn't good enough.

web monkey,
thank you.
my gear has a tag with all of my info.
the young lady was at a lost.
she could not explain why the gear had not been serviced.

Seems to me they have cheated you out of at least $200. You won't see any cash from them but I'd be looking for some satisfaction before I waved goodbye. It might be a good place to try on some new wetsuits before you order it online. :D

And don't forget to pee in them. :rofl3:

4 years ago i walked into this particuliar dive shop for the first time.
after some time the owner sold me a complete upgrade of zeagle gear.
one of the selling points was, with annual service i would pay for labor, $25 per stage, and parts are free.

i have taken my gear to this shop every spring.

every time i've gone back to pick up my gear, i get the same story:
- you don't clean your gear.
-it took a long time to clean up the mess.
-we won't service your gear until you take the equipment specialist class
-they charge an extra $15 per stage

i took the class.

picked up my gear yesterday.
got the same story and was charged extra again.

i've been diving since 1966.
i've kept up with technology and upgrade about every 8 years or so.
to date i've yet to experience any gear failures.
i know how to clean and store my gear.

this lds is 1 1/2 hours away and is the closest one to us.
i've tried to be a loyal customer.
my wife is telling me to find another lds.

last year they charged me $30 to clean my brand new gauges.
i did not buy them from him and did not expect the service.
when i got on board the belize aggressor the gauges showed 1000 lbs too much.
the captain loaned me his gauges.
when confronted with this the lds told me that gauges can go bad any time.

will i be able to find another lds that carries the zeagle line AND will honour the warranty?

regards,

Yep! Sounds like you've be duped, or cheated at the least! I would find another LDS. Or talk to your LDS and confront them about it
