Ok, I just got off the phone with Dr. Dale Saad from the Dept of Health who is the person who does all the water sampling in the region and asked her about this rumor. Apparently, she has heard nothing. When I mentioned the reported poor visibility, she said that there have been significant unseasonable algae blooms recently.

I may go check it out tomorrow since I have a new wing, new turbosoles, and an al40 to try out....the ocean doesn't sound like the best place to go.

Aaron I may go down tomorow with my dad - my second dive in 6 or 7 seven months - so please recover my carcass if need be. If the same fisherman are there that informed him of the incideent, I'll try to speak with them to get a feel for their reliability.

I would feel a lot better if the doc had said they had tested the water last week and it was OK.

I was there today as was an enormous OW class. I didn't detect any poop.

Surface was in the mid 50s, with a thermocline around 15 ft down to 41 degrees.

Dr. Saad also said that a single port-a-potty would likely have very little effect. The contents of a portapotty are chemically treated plus the cold water temperatures make it unlikely that fecal counts would be raised significantly.

A single porta pottie would have very little effect...think about it.....do the math on the volume of a lake vs 3 or 5 gallons.....and also think about all the fish poop, bird poop, and whatever other animals are around there pooping all year long....lol.....don't worry about it....dive!
