yea, maybe a wetsuit would help.

Thanks Jim. I just contacted another Halcyon user and he advised me what you've just said. That he usually just threads the bottom band over the lip of the tank boot. Another thing I could probably try is cutting the boot a bit to accomodate the botttom band. Looks like I'm going to end up not selling my cylinders after all. Thanks dude.

Sure thing...
Enjoy the rig. You'll really grow into it, I'm sure...

Jim

I thought halcyon design its gears for technical divers. I believe if u want something simple or for single tank just get a non technical design bcd.

Thanks

The Halcyon Eclipse is really liked by people using heavy cameras because it is much easier to hover when you don't have jacket air shifting around. The 30# wing is made for a single as far as I understand. I don't use tanks with boots, so not sure about that issue since I haven't encountered that one.

Once you have done more reading on the board, I think you might observe that the BP/W system is used by a heck of a lot of recreational divers...

Jag, finally bought my Eclipse. The local LDS provided me with a shorter STA...perfect for 10.5's.

I bought an Eclipse several months ago and I can't say that I've had quite the "seeing the light" experience that others on the board have had--due to doing my OW training (pool sessions, at least) in an Eclipse. I never knew that "jackets" existed until I had to go rent gear for the actual OW dives. So I guess you could say that someone turned off the light as soon when I used the jacket.
Decided to buy my own (30lbs) and have never had a problem with anything--even the SS inflator.

I believe the main issue here is definitely a lack of someone properly educating people the correct way to set up this gear.
YES, the straps might take a little bit to figure out, but...seriously....how often are you going to have to set up the harness? Once? Perhaps the occasional adjustments inbetween dives to fine-tune things?
As to the tank boot issue, I can't say I dive with tank boots.

Not all the time, I've always used a BC and Mike told me about an article where they talked to the top U/W photographers and almost all of them used a BC. I have no problem at all hovering.

that's cause they are all old and behind the times, living in the sticks on some isolated island. Prolly no Halcyon to be had on Yap....lots of time to write articles though. :11:
