Couple of thoughts here:
- only a continous harness is a pita to set up (although it took me only 20 mins).
There are adjustable/QR harnesses from various manufacturers that you adjust as any other BCD. It ain't DIR, you add "failure points" (though I never had one fail in 21 years), but it makes things more convinient to set up and use
- Coming from a Ranger (and still using it when it suits me) I liked the weight system.
DUI's Weight & Trim works much like it. Having the weights separately from the BCD/tank also eases donning and doffing on a rolling boat. And carrying the weights there in the first place
- There are 'softharness' available that work with or without a backplate.
- There are height adjustable single tank adapters out there, too. Adds to profile, but should take care of shorter tanks tipping over as well as headbanging
