I'm the first to admit I like seafood, and I'll eat sushi until I'm in pain. But having had the opportunity to see what I have seen as a diver, I find that there are things that I won't eat anymore. I'd much rather watch an octopus in the ocean than on my plate, for example. I'll never order cuttlefish or anything with turtle. I try to be more aware of what I'm eating and avoid restaurants that serve overfished or endangered sealife.

So has anyone else had the same experience?

But I've cut down on my beer consumption. More to keep the weight off. That plus exercise.

As far as eating seafood. I don't like to eat things that are endangered, or might be like turtles. However, I love the rest of the stuff.

Eating better and exercising more coincided with my Kool-aid epifany when I moved to the dark side.

Lost the weight, got in much better shape and have been able to stick with it. So year, Diving changed my diet... but not in the way you described above.

I've driven by fields of Hops and still drink beer. :bounce:

I drive by grain fields and still drink Booze. :bounce: :bounce:

I drive by pastures cattle grazing and still eat beef.

I dive in the waters of the world and still eat it unless endangered.

I drive McDonalds and keep going, It's endangered.

I drive by a cat house and better keep driving or I'd be endangered. :zap1:

I don't have a clue what my diet would have been like without diving. I love shark but have quit eating it because of the problems. Thats about it.

It has changed my diet but mainly because after I dropped all that cash on the drysuit I can't afford to outgrow it so I am very careful to not put on too much weight.

I know how you feel Chad...

I dont eat seafood... I didnt even before I started diving.

I never ate seafood before diving, but there is no way I could do it now. I won't even do on dive trips here in Florida during Lobster season!!!!!

I love sushi. Yellowfin tuna, just after it stops flapping around on the boat deck is absolutely delicious! :D

Bugs, in season, are quite fair game. So are grouper and snapper, and a few others. I have no problem catching them with a hook and line, and I have no problem with shootnig them with a speargun either (except the bugs - those you have to catch "by hand")

Ive stopped eating Whalesharks and Mantarays after seeing them in the philipines!

I've dropped eating shark because of the increasing mercury content over the years, but over all I have the same train of thought as Genesis. Hogfish, snapper, grouper, bugs and a few others are all fair game and can count themselves part of an upcoming feast if I happen to catch them in my sights.

Outside of sea food, I've curbed my beer consumption and have been realigning my aerobics fitness and weight training to get myself back into some recognizable form of fitness again.
