I'm a college kid with very little money. I found a deal on a Mares MR 12 Proton Regulator at Mares MR12 Proton Regulator 1st & 2nd: unrealfind
Now I know that they are not an authorized dealer, but they are selling this reg for half the price that I have seen it everywhere else. Has anyone ever ordered from them before, and if so, how was your experience? Also what am I actually risking by buying this reg without a warranty. I mean, if I save $170 on it now, I can pay out of pocket to have it serviced in the future if I have problems and still come out ahead right? Well just let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Trey

I have ordered several things from them and never had a problem. I have never ordered a regulator though just wetsuits, gloves and hoods. They even helped me get a watchband for a Freestyle watch I have. I have never had to return anything so I don't know how their customer service is. You are right, some of their prices are hard to pass up, even if a lot of the items seems to be dis-continued or previous years model.

I have purchased things from them 3 times but no regulators. I was pleased with them each time. They actually saved me some more money on S&H by letting me stop by their warehouse in San Diego and picking up my items.

Me and a buddy of mine have ordered from them in the past. We each bought a pair Tusa Zoom split fins (~99, retail is $150 or so!) and he bought a henderson 7mm suit. I don't remember the guys name who runs the place, but we both had spoken to him personally on the phone and he gave great service. I wouldn't have any problem making a purchase from them in the future and often look to their site to see what they have for sale. I don't know anything about the warranty situation because I haven't bought a reg from them.

Good luck!

You might see what Scubatoys can do as they have a Lowest Price Guarantee now so they might be able to match the price. They advertise it on all their regulators so it might be worth a call.

And you'll get the full manufacturers warranty.

Mention that you're an SB member for 10% off also. But not if they match the price.

They'll also service it, regardless of where you bought it for $49.95 plus shipping. Regulator Repair

Make 10 good posts on the Scubatoys forum for a $10 gift certificate - 250 posts for a $50 gift certificate. Both can be used with a pricematch or SB discount also.

I've also bought fins/boots from Unrealfind on eBay with no issues.

I would drop the scubatoys guys an email and check what they can do for you....

I believe that they are an ebay dealer, and have very good feedback score. I've won auctions from them from ebay, and the transactions went smoothly.

I would say that some dealer on ebay value their feedback score more than even your local LDS concern about their reputation. You will find that threatening to leave a negative feedback will get you good customer service in serious ebay dealers.
