Has anyone bought a drysuit from EBay?

Whats the most expensive single piece of dive gear you've bought on an auction site?

I picked up a nice used air-integrated Oceanic Datamax Pro, with compass for $200, information matches my wrist mount (except for the air-integrated info). Have also purchased small items that are hard to have a problem with, dive markers, safety sausage, etc.

Allways, Allways check out the feedback of the seller, see what type of items they normally sell. Read, and reread all descriptions of the item, most are sold "AS IS", bid accordingly.

good luck:)

I picked up a 2 yr. old DUI CF-200 drysuit in excellent condition, all seals perfect and only used on less than 10 dives for only $750.:)

One of the guys I dive with got a DUI CF200 with undergarments and bag for $590. It fits him like a glove. JJ used him as the example in our DIRF for how a drysuit "should" fit.

We almost fell over laughing since he was worried about having the e-bay drysuit. The other students who paid a ton for theirs weren't all as lucky..

Just a little update for what it's worth. I made the comments above before I actually had received the suit and was just going by how the seller described the suit in the auction. After receiving the suit and trying it out, I found it leaked in three places and I ended up sending it back to the seller for a refund.;-0 I think I'll just save my pennies and buy a brand new drysuit someday. I learned a lesson, buying used drysuits on Ebay is risky. I'm sure you can get good deals but you could potentially get screwed too. Fortunately the seller of this particular suit was understanding and gave me a full refund as he should have.

I have bought a total of 3 drysuits online. 2 used and 1 new. the first one I got from ebay, was a posidon unisuit neoprene, very good shape, no leaks, but it was too big...so I sold it on ebay (and made a profit) the 2nd one (also from ebay) was a seaquest trilam....too small, so I resold it on ebay for the same price that I paid (the suit was in good shape) the 3rd I bought from someone that was selling it on ebay (brand new) Bare trilam, and I got it for 450. I have used the suit twice so far and am very happy with it...

I bought my drysuit from the internet, although not ebay.

Cost UKP100 ($150), trilam, very good condition, good fit, good seals, no leaks, free undersuit, free waterproof bag. I'm happy with the deal.

I get almost all our (My wife and I) stuff off of there.

SeaVision Masks ($60)
Atomic B1 Regs ($250 off eBay...paid LDS to check, O2 clean and seal)
AirSources for our SeaQuest BC's (paid LDS to checl valves and fills)
SeaQuest Black Diamond BC (should be in Friday. Upgraded from the Balance... Sold the Balance on eBay last week for $25 less than I paid 3 seasons ago. If the BD sucks, I'll strip off its AirSource and sell it for about what I paid for it last week. Will schlep to LDS for full check out)
Atomic Fins
O'Neill WetSuit (just sold mine and my wife's on eBay for 88% of what I paid 3 seasons ago)
My DUI TLS350 custom Drysuit with Thinsolite undergarmet (just came in today!!! Can't wait to get home and try it on!)
My wife's DUI TLS350 (should be in on Friday)
Dive Bags
Computers (took to LDS for complete check up and upgrade)

From Leisure Pro I got my wife's BC (should be in Friday...then off to LDS) and the light cannons.

From LDS we got Cylinders (HP100 for me, HP80 for Wifie) weights (why ship lead?..although I just sold all my soft weights on eBay last week...so SOMEBODY is paying to have lead shipped...) Booties for Wetsuits, gloves, hoods, and all the other hoopla (clips, slates, back up lights, etc, etc...)

Most of this stuff off of eBay was NEW, or near new (the DUI 350, Thinsolite Undergarment, thinsolite booties and hose I got today I paid $455 for.... c'mon. FOUR FIFTY FREAKIN'-FIVE. It was billed as "dove once" This thing is box new... It included the original invoice and measurement chart from 1993, etc. This guy is my size and build, just a little heavier than I am. ) I am completely blown away by this suit and undergarmet. And you know what, if it fits well, I'm off to my LDS to get it checked out (like everything else I buy off of eBay). If it doesn't fit, I can sell it before the weekend for $700 easily without the undergarmet.

I have bids or am watching O2 analysers, another set of fins and some other dive stuff.

eBay is a great place to get gear. But you can't be a moron and take the stuff that rolls off the UPS truck and go hit the water. You need to have all life support equipment checked by an authorized dealer.

My point of showing prices isn't to be a dork and gloat or whatever. My point is simply this: there are treasures out there. I mean compete, eye-popping treasures - if you take the time to look.

eBay is also a great place to SELL your old stuff, too. We have upgraded from wet to dry diving with minimal out-of-pocket expense by selling a lot of our old gear.

eBay flat our rules. Good place to sell. Good place to buy. Get your rig checked out before you get it wet. Get training before you get wet (we start our drysuit class at our LDS on Monday) and that's about all I have.
