We did Larry's maybe 2 years ago. OK. Not terribly exciting but it was an enjoyable dive for my son and I, not the least of all because he'd never had the chance to dive from an "inflatable". There was a discussion about Larry's WS dive on a thread here abt 1 week back.

Husband, son (his first trip to Bonaire) and I are heading to Bonaire again first two weeks of June and staying at Lighthouse Beach Resort #13. We were last in Bonaire the last two weeks of January, 2007 and had a lovely stay with Liz at Golden Reef Inn, unfortunately she was booked this trip. Our first trip to Bonaire was quite the adventure, diving wise. Husband and I are both now 50 and not in terrible shape but figured out that we would train and slim down before the next trip! I had a laptop and communicated with friends and family nightly in US via email, writing up trip reports from the daily adventures both in water and getting "lost" making the trip around Rincon. Kept them all in stitches the whole time we were gone as, of course, I tried to turn what was not necessarily the most appealing dive picture into a comedy act. From the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at lunch sometimes (found out later that the peanut butter was part of the recall batch we had there for awhile, which explained one of my adventures into the brush before a dive one day!), to the trip to a supermarket for beef for a cookout, only to find out we had to come back on "Wednesday" or something like that to get what we wanted, which we did, amazing that we found it again! The first week was pure He_ _ and thought I would never go back but by the time the second week was over, I could not imagine not living thru the experience and returning as soon as I could. We did not do the national park but we did put over 400 miles on our truck in 2 weeks and did 40 dives. It will be very interesting to see how different it is in June from January. In January, it was never cold by any means but we also never got sunburned. We got to the point where we could check the wind and decide which way to head, often doing two dives on one end or the other in the morning and reverse in afternoon. It is pretty easy to get around, but would suggest you keep the map handy. In our last week, we found a restaurant that served great mexican food in town, near the square and supermarket. Hope they are still there - it was run by people from Texas and we went back 2 or 3 times our last week, wishing we had found it the week before. If anyone is interested in seeing some of my daily stories, just private message and I will see what I can do. Lots of dive details about specific sites. Take care, counting down to May 31st arrival date!

gert7to3,
Have been to Bonaire in March,May and November. My recollections are not the most trustworthy but this year was the worst for visibility, and surge. November(2002) was the first visit and the best overall for visibility. Two March trips and May trip I don't remember much difference in visibility and there was little surge to worry about or remember. I do seem to remember thinking the visibility always got worse as time went on but my memory is not what it use to be. I do wonder if do to many things, visibility being one of them, we will start going back to November for our Bonaire adventure. March 2009 could be the end of our string.
thanks for your input
