I'm a Fish!
Sorry to disappoint ya Herman. I am PBD free. Don't get me wrong, Bonaire is a beautiful place (heck it's in the Caribbean right?) but a bit too much work for me. Give me the NON Rocky, Sandy beach entry's and the 4 tank per day boat trips that aren't additional cost of Coco View any day.

Plus the "where do y'all want to eat today" got a bit old. At Coco View, your meals are delicious and you don't have to decide where to eat and don't have to carry $$ around or hope your friends have enough to cover you in the event you didn't make it by your room between dives.

The first meal we ate was very late due to our arrival time and then waiting on our ride from the airport to Buddy's.. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw $59.00 for 2 cheeseburgers, 1 side salad, 1 tea and 1 Amstel bright. OK the $59.00 was Nafl but the bill was still $34.00 which is a bit high IMHO. We ate at the Lion's den since it was so close, the burgers were excellent but I wasn't expecting that price. Needless to say we visited the grocery store the next day. We ate at the Lion's den or the pool bar for dinner or cooked in the room. We ate lunch once at the store just down the street from the hotel, the rest of the time we ate at the room for lunch.

I didn't see anything extraordinary. I did see some juvenile Angel fish, partly striped and partly spotted. They were very pretty. One HUGE Parrot fish that was Black and Blue. 5 spotted drums that were pretty big. A large moray eel that was hanging out at the hooker on Thursday but didn't see it Friday. One group that ran low on air Friday at the hooker saw a nurse shark. One group that took Larry's to the wild side saw a spotted eagle ray. Other than those it was your garden variety Caribbean reef fish.

Short on time but will post the entire DL fiasco at the airport sometime soon. Glad I went, had a great time but I am not cut out for Bonaire diving.....

More space for the rest of us! To each their own.

Personally, when I last stayed at an all inclusive I found the food to be good, but it became a bit boring going to the same place all of the time.

Trixxie - you need to do a liveaboard! If you want to 4 dives per day with no hauling gear, no need for dinner reservations, etc. it is the only way to go! :D

We loved Bonaire, but we agree it is work. We didn't get PBD either, but then when we got home we were already looking forward to our next trip - to Palau on a liveaboard. :D

5 days until our next liveaboard trip! 4-5 dives per day, nothing to do between dives but relax and eat. :D Aaahhh.

Blasphemy...

:)

The only reason I did not get immediate PBD after the trips was that I was too exhausted for it. I think going to Bonaire is a little bit like working on deadline... It's not the shore diving that exhausts me but the obsessing when I was not diving. The fact that one can dive ALL THE TIME is such a CURSE!!!

Aw, nuts. Just hearing about it seems to have sent me into a strong case of PBA (Pre-Bonaire Anticipation). From the sound of it, I'm even more convinced that Bonaire was pretty much designed for me.

116 days from now I'll be on my way to Houston. :D

Hey Trixxie, thanks for posting your feelings and experiences. We're doing our first Bonaire trip in July and everything you talked about are things I'm wondering about for us since we love the convenience and ease of liveaboard diving. Will we feel the same way as you, or will we get into a rhythm and fall in love with Bonaire like so many others. Guess we'll know soon enough. ;)

To each his own I suppose. The food on Bonaire is one of the draws for me, you did pick one of the pricer places on the island, good but pricey. I do agree it can be hectic with a group. I also like CCV but for a different reason. For me it's a brain dead week. Zero decisions to make other than if I dive or not. Again, opinions differ, I find the food at CCV to be industrial.... more or less open the can and pour it out. It's ok but not a place I would go back to if it were a restaurant at home but certainly not bad enough to keep me from going back....in 6 weeks.

Yeah I've done the cayman aggressor, still like coco view better. don't have the down time moving from site to site. the aggressor was the best vacation I had until I went to Roatan.....
