Happy New Year O'Hana.

Oh and to ensure the thread stays ion the main O'hana forum--diving is fun!

Happy New Year,

Diving is fun, even after all of the running around we (Greg and I) had to do to dive that ended our year. :lotsalove:

january 1, 2009.. 3:30am..
sound of torrential rain wakes me from an alcohol induced slumber..
but quickly fall asleep again.
6:30am.. rise to continuing rain showers.
8:30am.. arrive marina.. still raining.. but blue skies south-east.. clouds moving west.
9:30am.. boat launched and loaded.. me, bcyber, lonnie, and pedro..
drive into bright blue sky, sunshine, flat seas, calm wind.
on this fine new years day.. we dived ewa pinnacles and route66..
couple miles outside pearl harbor. (i think sherman and onfloat were at pinnacles last night).

here're a few photos..
well.. first, i take a nize close-up of this yellow margin..

then, i turn to shoot this weird looking anemone? on a clam shell in the next puka over..

and to my surprise! that dang yellow margin decides to take a bite out my glove!
luckily.. i tucked all my fingers in.. taking precaution in proximity to those sharp teeth.
thankfully.. it only took a shard of pleather from the side of my glove.. whew!
(note to self)

then we saw a couple white tips swimmin'/lounging over the garden eels..

i've actually gotten much closer to these guys too.. face-to-face.. literally.
but i only wanted to learn one lesson today.

my highlight of the day came on route66..
found a couple hawaiian lions.. under an antler..

Nice shots JJ! Here are a couple of the ones I took.

Longnose Hawkfish, very rarely seen in Hawaii since most Black Coral has been harvested at recreational diving depths

White-tip Reef Shark in usual hang out at Ewa Pinnacles

Nice dive! That shark looks pretty pregnant to me.....and I like the composition of the nudi pic with the diver in the background....very interesting and something different.

Thanks! Blue found them on a rock so I picked it up and swam around with it and got that pic. :cool2:
