Interesting, I was unaware of this location. Any dive operations you suggest?

Thank you

There is only one op - Flingcharters.com - check them on FB also. Be prepared to have alternate dates - high seas cause alot of cancelations. I did however get within 15' of a hammer - it was COOL

A guaranteed sighting for hammers - Lahaina divers out of Maui - they'll drop you in a school of 200# hammers - its awesome.

If you're up for shark feed diving, I hear they're seen seasonally out of Jupiter, Florida - such as with Emerald Charters.

My trip wasn't a clear match for that, but I was after tiger sharks - and saw tiger, lemon, silky, bull and nurse sharks. I think somebody on the boat saw a hammerhead while we were on a dive. I've yet to see one in the wild.

I dove in Flower Garden Bank last August. saw 4 hammerheads deep down near oil rig but way too far to get a good picture of them. The highlight of the trip was swimming with manta. The Manta was swimming around the MV Fling during surface interval. So, I jumped in the water & swam with it for a few minutes. That was fun.

I heard you’ll have a better chance to see the hammerheads in March-April months.

After the failed attempt in November 2017 due to bad weather, I’m going back to Banda next September 2019 for this:

I think Cocos water is warmer
Hey all,

Where would be the closest place to the USA that I would be sure (as sure as is possible) to see Hammerheads in April? I know Galapagos and cocos are suppose to.. but I am also looking for as reasonably warm water as possible. My wife is cold in 82 degree water....

Any suggestions? We can travel anywhere, but whatever is closest in April would be preferred.

Thanks

Galápagos is cold (I dove there in December 2016), but Cocos is not, based on the info from Scuba Diving in Cocos Island, Costa Rica. “Water temperatures hover between 75 and 86°F (24-30°C) (average 82°F 27.8°C) and there is a seasonal variation of only a few degrees. However, temperatures can vary dramatically, dropping up to 43°F (6°C) due to thermoclines.” So, Cocos would be a good choice.

I’m going there in September 2018 with Argo. However, there are still plenty of liveaboard choices even in April 2018. Check this webpage: Search Results
