Beautiful day for a dive on Saturday. LewisEvans and I and two other buddies decided to try out Halibut Point. What a hike! We geared up at the car and then trekked through the jungle path to the dive site. Thank goodness it was high tide.
We followed the heading north to about 52 foot depth, hung out for a while with bottom temperatures between 54 and 52 degrees F before turning around and heading in. Visibility was great ~20', especially considering all the wind and rain on Friday. First dive was 40 minutes, then LewisEvans and I continued on the same tank for another 26 minutes before coming in and swapping out the tanks. Second tank dive was 38 minutes with a max depth of 59'.
Lots and lots of dogfish! they were swarming us and checking us out which made for a very interesting dive. Saw a couple northern red anemones as well. Also saw a shorthorn sculpin on the way in after the second tank dive. Short but fun dives with some great people and we got lunch at the Lobster Pool after hacking our way through jungle back to our cars. Where are the scuba sherpas when you need them?
