Halcyon is releasing the Eclipse wing in the USA after
DEMA. I spoke with EE and the rep was suprised
I knew about it as it has been released in Europe
only. Wait till after DEMA as DR is coming
out with a new wing as well.

cstreu1026, the Pioneer 27 isn't that much larger than the 18. And you get the added advantage of the circular bladder which helps reduce ari trapping in a horizontal postion.

I thought the 18 would be a lot smaller than the 27... but then the 27 gains its additional buoyancy from the lower part which completes the "O" instead of a "U" shape.

The 18# "Batwing" as it was called is a great wing... but since the 27 doesn't add drag, why not go for it anyway?

If you can find an 18#... great... if not, the 27 isn't a bad option.

The new Halcyon wing that will be launched in the DEMA is the new Eclipse wing which will come in 30# and 40# versions.

These are the ones that have an outershell, much like their Explorer line... except in a single tank version, and you can't remove the inner bladder from the outershell.

Local Halcyon dealer here didn't know about the new wings either... he was laughing and said "I'm so uninformed!!!" ... who knows... I might apply as their new sales rep!!!

I didn't realize that the 18lb wing was just u-shaped. I guess I will have to take a look at the new wings when they are realeased and also the 27lb Pioneer.

Go see Tommy. I've got the 27 and I LOVE IT! It's what finally converted me completely from a jacket to backplate. I've always dived a backplate when caving, but still stuck with a jacket for openwater. Not anymore! The 27 is sweet!

Signed,

Lori (from Cincy) and "works" for Tommy.
