I have an eclipse 40 with the horizontal-mount weight pockets (hold about 6 lbs each side). This model of pocket has a hard contoured plastic plate that bends where your hips are. They attach to the harness with a triglide that locks them in place.

I want to add the cinch harness to my eclipse. I really liked it.

Will these weight pockets still be useable with the cinch? What about their interaction or conflict with the cannister light adapter?

Do I need to sell these and get the new smaller ones (ACB 10)?

I posted this in the Halcyon mfrs forum but I get a lot of responses here so I am posting here as well.

You can only use one attachement on the cinch at a time. I would suggest moving to a weight or attach the light can to your tank. The smaller weight pocket will not make a difference. Hope this helped. You could also add a V-weight to your plate, thus no pockets/belt needed. Not sure if you need to dump weight?

The cinch comes with a kit that permits you to use your bits.

Confirms that you can only use one item at a time on cinch.

See Halcyon's feedback.

"...The older style ACB 12 horizontal pockets will not work with the Cinch. The new vertical ACB 10 allow easy use of the adjustment. Neither pocket works with the light adapter in it's place. So depending on how much weight you wear you may need to add a trim weight pocket to the tank strap. If you need more information feel free to call me at 800 425 2966 x 305

You saw it on TV it must be true.

My H horizontal pockets fit with the cinch, smooth as.

Must be the fairy dust or the manufacturers BS or their forgotten ingenuity

Thanks for the link.

The response was related to the question around weight pockets and light can adapter on a cinch. Why these comments????

The horizontal orientation of the ACB12 and ACB20 pockets means that there is almost no room for a canister light. I've successfully utilized the ACB10 weight pouch on the light canister assembly, I end up having to put the light in FRONT of the pocket though, which can become a bit cumbersome if your waist is small. Also if you do choose to try this, use a 9ah canister or smaller. Please check the bolt that holds your light mount adaptor in place regularly as well, because having the light so far forward allows enough leverage/toggle that it can loosen the attachment. the ACB 10 weight pouch won't go anywhere, as it is directly attached to the cinch plate and harness waist is running through, but the light mounting assembly will cause some annoyance if it comes loose.

I have heard of people running the pouches in front of the light canister and locking the kit an kaboodle in place with the buckle (if you've handled the light mounting assembly it becomes clear why the triglide doesn't work the way it would to hold a pocket in place on standard harness, as there is double layer webbing towards the back)

The downward pull and orientation of the larger (ACB12) pockets, and weight pockets combined with a light canister do not allow for the ease of glide that the ACB 10 alone offers. You have to be a bit more conscious of the downward pull when trying to loosen or tighten the via the cinch.

If you are fixing that side anyway with a triglide then that will be less of an issue.

so the long and the short is, for ease of use, it is not recommended to load up the light canister assembly with pocket in addition to light canister, but it is indeed do-able, as long as you are aware of the limitations. if you must use both a weight pocket and canister, use the vertical oriented ACB10 pocket. (I also run 2 13.5ah video packs on the light canister assembly regularly and run into some of the same issues ) If you DO choose to try this configuration, please check the security of the light assembly attachment bolt before each dive.

The better practice would be to use the weight pocket directly on our waist band on the right side, and put the canister light on the waist belt as with a normal harness.

Thanks very much for that lucid explanation, Laura.

My thought is to do this:

Right side: Once I fit the harness, lock the right side in place with a triglide. Canister light can go in back right next to the plate, ACB 12 pocket forward, which also gets it just on or in front of my hip bone. I like that because it will keep the weight towards the front of my body and reduce turtling.

Left side: the ACB 12 located forward over the hip like on the right. This will put the D ring on the weight pocket in the right position for clipping off the SPB. It will also give about 4-6" of space between the pocket and the cinch plate, which I can slide through the cinch when doffing or donning, which is all I need.

Does that sound like a plan?
