I'm in the process of purchasing a Halcyon Infinity BP /W, I plan on getting the SS back plate, but unsure on what size wing? I dive southern California cold water, wear a 7 mm and am 6ft, 280lb, I dive single steel 100s. Should I get the 30lb or 40lb eclipse wing? Your imput would be very helpful in my choice of wings. Thanks again, Vlad

You are right on the edge there Vlad. The 40 does "taco" a bit around the 100, but I think you might do well with the added lift. I dive both the 30# and the 40# under different circumstances, and don't notice a great deal of difference in wing performance. I would go for the 40.

Do you use the 30 more for traveling with an aluminum? I heard the infinity is great for travelingbif you confugure it right with out having to pay extra money for a travel bc/w, true?

30lb should be more than enough!

I have the Eclipse system which is the Infinity without the cinch system. The wing is excellent for travel as it can be rolled up compactly.

Personally I would recommend you buying the SS backplate for the weight being you are using a 7 mil wetsuit. For travel you could always purchase an inexpensive AL plate for $50 or so.

Here is the long and short of it. Most divers are fine with the 30lbs wing. If you are using weight integration, if you are out of your gear at the surface, your gear will sink. If that is not an issue for you then go with the 30. If you want to be able to float the gear better then do the 40. Either route, you will be happy with the performance of the wing. If you hold the two wings side by side there is not a huge difference. Some of the divers locally (NJ) go with the 40 do to the extra lift and bringing up a bag of scallops & mussels (i don't recommend this method, use lift bag). We actually have these systems in our rental line and we do put the bigger people in the 40's (we are wearing more weight and you do have to get out of your gear for a skill) and their performance in the water is great!

What brand plates other than Halcyon will accept the cinch system and a Halcyon wing? I'd love a $50 plate I can swap onto my Infinity for travel...

None wrt cinch!! Most if not all plates will accept the wing.

The Cinch harness only works with the Halcyon plate. I've seen Oxycheq wings on Halcyon Plate, so I would assume that vice versa would be OK.

As far as which wing to go with, I'd recommend go for the smallest wing possible.
