800 USD for a BC of any type? I hope it cleans/cooks at least... ;)

I'm sure you cannot go wrong with it, though.

For me, I love the BP/W combo, but I feel a bit cheated about the cinch. It never quite adjusted as freely for me as advertised. Tightening worked okay on the right, hard on the left, and loosening it never quite worked well for me at all, even with only the plate. Not that I bother, as many will tell you here, once set there's really no need. In hindsight the Eclipse would have worked just as well.

you have to take off the load first before you can tighten or loosen the cinch system, it worked well for me, no reason it wont work for someone else.

......not so tight that you need to make a choice of which side to dress.

Hi there....newbie here.

I'm heading down to Key Largo to do my AOW. I am thinking of buying the above mentioned system. When I ran this by an instructor up here he said that it appears as though it maybe difficult to get off in an emergency situation should the need arise. Anyone find this to be the case?

Not at all. The Cinch system works quite well underwater. It works better underwater than out of water. I can easily loosen the straps and slip right out of mine.

Also, no sternum strap.....does the harness stay in place ?

Yes, it does. But if you were to not tighten the waist belt enough to take the slack out of the shoulder straps, then obviously it will not stay in place.

Are there any other cons you may have experienced with this unit and if so what might those be? Pro's ?

Con: expensive.
Pro: the convenience of quick adjustability yet still stay streamlined and clean, the blue H also assures a high quality product with great support both from the dealership and manufacturer.

These may sound like silly questions but before I drop "just south" of a $800 I'd like to know what I'm getting.

Thanks in advance !

Not silly at all. To some the Cinch system and the Blue H isn't worth the extra $200-300 over a generic BPW system. To others, the markup is totally worth it. It was worth it to me.

It took me three dives to get used to donning & doffing the BC both in and out of water. On surface, in order to cinch up the waist belt, rest the tank on something so that it doesn't hang off your body and drag everything down. Or bounce the tank up and down a bit on your back as you pull up on the waist belts. Loosening up is the same thing. Rest the tank on something and pull the shoulder straps up & away from you. Or bounce and do the same.

The crotch strap should be tight enough to "bow" the waistband downward a little bit, but not so tight that you are singing falsetto.
