Got my first look at the Halcyon infinity harness today. Pretty interesting way to keep the single continuous harness and yet allow easy adjustability.
Essentially the system consists of a bottom plate that bolts to the back of a Halcyon backplate (it probably won't fit any other plate) and provides a smooth, rounded surface for the waist strap of the harness to slide. The can light and left hip d-ring are held in place by separate sections of looped webbing that bolt directly to the backplate, with the main harness running through the loops to maintain positioning/tension.
I took a few pictures that I think better-illustrates the details of the system:
Overview with waist harness partially unlooped:
Closeup of sliding mount for waist harness:
Can light buckle on separate section of webbing bolted to backplate:
Holding onto the separate can light webbing (you can see the buckle module is looped through the continuous harness - the buckle would slip through the section being held to secure the can light).
Personally, for the price of a Halcyon plate and Infinity, I'd just buy separate backplate/harnesses for warm and cold water diving, but I can see how this could be beneficial for rental fleets, or for those with mobility problems and find it difficult to get into and out of standard harnesses.
Sorry for the huge pics, figured it would help to show the detail.
