I'm a Fish!
I could really use some help on this one. The STA cam strap configuration on my Halcyon Eclipse does not fit my Steel 80. The Cam straps are too far apart. It's really wierd because the main plate has the cam strap "holes" in just the right spot but on the STA the are very far apart. Do they make an STA (that would work with the eclipse) with the cam slots closer together?

As it stands, the only way I can mount my Steel 80's is to remove the boot but I don't want to do that. The bottom of the tank is rounded so it could not stand up.

Not sure I can help with the Halcyon STA, but I know that Fred T sells a variety of STAs to fit virtually any single size, some are two piece setups. If no one comes up with a fix for yor Halcyon STA, you might want to contact Fred and see what he has to say...

Thanks Jag, I actually did send him an e-mail. It seems like it would be a snap for someone with SS and the Equipment to make. I'm really not sure why Halcyon spaced them so far apart. Like I said, the main plate has the slots in the perfect spot. I can't use them of course because those are meant for the Pioneer and not the Eclipse.

I tell you...
I thnk I will have the same problem here. The 10L Steel (I think 10L is about 80cuft) is a mightly short tank. I suppose if I really had to, I would just use the top strap in a pinch...

But I havent really sized it up to see just how short it is in comparison to the tank lenght. The lower holder would line up with the tank boot? If so, I suppose I could just widen the strap and fasten it over the boot, as long as it is a portion that has the tank meat under it...

Cali68,
If you don't have any luck with FredT, give me some dimensions and I'll make you one here at work. I made my own backplate and STA based on measurements I took from several different BP's.
I'll customize it for you for $10 less than a standard STA.

There's a new "soft" STA out from OxyCheq that utilises the slots in a backplate - does the Eclipse wing have camstrap slots?

Now that sounds like a deal!

How much is a regular STA anyway?

The OMS with bands runs $85. The bands are about $30 so that'd make the STA $55 bucks. My price would be $45 plus shipping.

Do you have any other reason why you don't want to remove your tank boots other than the bottoms are round? Do you ever take them off to clean under them? In the long run its better for the tank to have the boots off.

As in my case, the original poster might be referring to rental tanks...
