ive seen the greenforce in action and theyre awesome, but in your opinion which is better the halcyon range or the greenforce?

Why are limiting yourself to those two companies? There are, in my opinion, better alternatives out there, such as the Salvo line.

Politics on the ethics of dealing with certain companies aside...

I would buy another Halcyon light in an instant. They are more expensive than their competitors, but I've had my light down to them on a few occasions and have never had to spend a dime for repairs, even when one of the problems was caused by my own incompetence. Some will argue that I shouldn't have had problems with my light to begin with, but I don't know a single person diving in the North East that *hasn't* had a light problem whether they be Halcyon, Sartek, Salvo, Dive Rite, etc, etc.

Cold water, cold weather, and rough seas are tough on lights.

There are lots of good light companies and I agree with the other poster not to limit yourself to those to choices unless there is a compelling reason. I looked at all the light companies and decided to carry the salvo line of lights due to their quality and most importantly their durability. I could carry other brands but found the best and decided to stick with it.

What sort of diving are you doing? Out of your two choices I would say the Halcyon is a significantly better light for most uses. But I think the salvo is the best light on the market.

Not sure where you are located but if you are local to me we can arrange a test dive. I have some specials on salvo lights right now.

I agree with Soggy on the Halcyon customer service. I bought a bulb used for my 18w Halcyon and took it to Halcyon to have Corey install it as I was scared I may break the test tube (heard many horror stories). Well, when Corey put the bulb in and fired up the light, the bulb flashed once and went out. Corey said "don't worry, I'll give you a new bulb". He did and I was back in the caves 15 minutes later. Outstanding service!

I also own a Salvo 21w (along with some other products from Salvo) and they have also always hooked me up as far as customer service goes.

I have been on a couple cave dives with folks using Green Force and the beam widths are just too wide for signaling. I think they have one light with less than about 13 degree beam.

Green Force would never even be a consideration for me when looking a new HID.

Talk to Brent (hunter991) about a Salvo. I'm sure he can hook you up (he did me and several of my buddies).

Hi Scubajohn921,

Thanks for your interest in Green Force; I am glad you are impressed with what you have seen.

As you might already be aware, Green Force is the most versatile lighting system on the market. One of the most appealing to many is its modular aspect, it never becomes obsolete. Not to mention from a quality control perspective it is the only canister light made ISO 9001 certified. Our batteries are sealed, charging is either direct into the battery OR charge thru the umbilical; there are no "pop" top, those are failure points

We offer both 10 & 21 watt HID and our 10 watt comes in either a 6 or 13 degree. Our 21 watt HID uses an impact resistant Bulb, in 3 plus years we have not had a broken bulb or a light head returned repairs, this also goes for our 10 HID.

If you have any questions, let me know or PM me.

Thanks – Greg

I have not seen a thread sit so idle in a long time after a reply; the product does speak for itself. Anyway, I want to see if you had any further questions.

Let me know.

I love my Green Force HID 10 W. Mostly for the modular design and sealed battery pack. Doesn't skip a beat. The beam might be a tad wide in murky water, but I dive Hawaii and it is perfect for the conditions here.
