Corvallis SCUBA once bubbled...

The 36 is *identical* to the 27 with the exception of the pleats sewn into the sides. There is very little difference in streamlining.

Really? I've read the many posts (esp. by Genesis) touting Oxycheq as being awesome in that the 30# & 45# have the same profile given the wing's design, and I thought that this was not true with the Halcyon wings. I've only dove w/ a 27# Pioneer, so I don't have the experience to compare. I'm interested in if others find the two Halcyon wings to be quite similar, just as Genesis reports that the two Oxycheq wings are similar....

There's no point unless you have some reason to.

With the Halcyon, you did, as the "bellows wing" was not ideal in terms of drag and potential damage.

With the Oxycheq, there is no issue to have to solve.

The difference between the Halcyon 36/45 bellows, and the OxyCheq 45lb bellows, are that the Halcyon bellows are on the outer edge of the wing, and the OxyCheq bellows are inboard parallel to the tank, so in effect the OxyCheq wing "grows" around the tank as it is inflated. The profile of the OxyCheq 30lb wing is identical to the 45lb - when I first got them in stock, I laid them over the top of each other - they're the same size, and the shape of the edge of the wing stays the same.

I dived a Halcyon 36lb for almost 2 years, I've just got my gear back from moving between countries, and I'll be diving the OxyCheq 45lb from now on.
