I just don't log dives
I ordered the EKPP Reflector to replace the #3 on my buddy light (actually, I'll demote the "new" Halcyon 18W reflector to the buddy light, and keep the EKPP for me...) and it arrived today.

WOW. I had no idea it would be so big.

I'm going out tomorrow (diving with ScubaLaurel) and will have a chance to compare the EKPP UW to the "new" style Halcyon. The #3 is going to be sold (no goodman) - PM if interested.

For reference, I've included a couple of photos here so you can see the dramatic difference between the ol' #3 and the "new" style, and the differece between the "new" and the EKPP.

Sando was great to work with, shipped quick and its all good. I can see a huge difference 'tween #3 and "new" on both day dives and night dives - I can't wait to see the EKPP in action.

I'll second your recommendation on Sandho (Howard Sandroff) for service. He's replaced so much of my Helios 9 that my Halcyon has become a Halcyoff ... :D

So much for the beer cozy!

I can split one and get it on the "new" Halcyon 18 - no way it'll fit on the EKPP. The search is on for something that will... maybe an old glove or bootie?

Check with your Aussie mates and see if they make beer cozies for Foster's cans ... ;)

That, my friend, is an excellent idea. I'll send a note to Ben and see if they make an Oil Can koozy!

Nice.

You rule.

Or do what I did and get yourself one of these ...

The large size will work ... but the XL gives you room for the charger too ...

The buddy light resides in the Pelican 1500. I put together a weight belt (sans weights) so for my friends (and wife) with integrated weight BC's, they can still wear it. I was attaching it to the tank bands for the first few months... until I built the light belt.

My light (with the EKPP) stays clipped to the BP/W - so I really want to find a Koozy that fits this huge reflector. I currently just wrap it in my hood when its in the bag in transport.

FYI Beer Koozies fit the "new" rig! I just got the full overhaul on my Helios 9 18W and sure enough the koozie fits.

Wow...life is good.

I was checking out my #3 against bob's EKPP halcyroff last week, and honestly i don't think its enough for me to shell out for the upgrade. about all i could visually see was a brighter central dot with bob's.

maybe it makes for better signalling in low-viz, maybe i'll change my mind when the algae blooms come back...

other people have thought that my #3 was brighter than their 'new' halcyon, so i dunno, maybe i just got lucky with my #3 and got a particularly bright one...
