Okay, I haven't posted anything is so long that I don't even know where to start.
Oriskany - been out every weekend for several weeks. The vis is getting better. Yesterday it was around 70 feet. There is a green muck layer on top but you drop below it and your fine. The current has been strong for a couple of weeks but is getting better. It has been strong on top but yesterday the current was on the wreck. Hopefully it will be gone tomorrow. We are finding Octopus up top again. There is a little baby in the pipe on the Port side. She likes live crabs if you take her one. A couple weeks ago I put a memorial wreath on the Admiral's bridge. It is still there. He was a vet who served on the Oriskany. Lesson to self - if you have to put a wreath on a wreck 120 feet underwater. Make sure that it is grapevine - otherwise it floats and can be a hard swim.
Pete's Tide - Last weekend there was a current on top and we were swimming around pole fishers lines but it was great. Tons of very interesting shells and lots of fair vis. I was collecting fishing weights to make into dive weights and had so much extra weight that I didn't like I was going to be able to walk up the ladder of the H2O Below. Thank you to all the fisherman who had to cut their lines.
Soule Barge - the current was less on that wreck last weekend. The vis was a little better also. It is a little farther in but don't know if that makes a difference. The lead weights were there too. I love snapper season. That is the barge that is upside down and it was fun looking under the wreck which is where all the triggers where sitting laughing at the pole fisherman. Have you never heard a tigger laugh? It would crack you up!
Anyway the H2O Below has been out everyday this week - two inshore trips and the rest the Oriskany. We have trips for this weekend also. The season is really picking up and the weather is beautiful. As always I'm looking for anybody who is brave enough to dive with me.
Give MBT a call and tell them that you want to go with that crazy girl DM - they'll know who you are talking about. See ya at 130 feet!:cool2:
