I have a Canon A-80, 4mp, w/the Canon WP-DC900 housing. I have been taking casual underwater shots for about 3 months now. As with any obsession I'm excited and motivated to learn more to help better myself as an underwater photographer. I have, somewhat, an eye for capturing attractive scenes yet I'm inexperienced, with aperature, shutter speeds, etc., so my shots sacrifice.

I was looking for recommendations of some quality books, websites, or basically any literature that will aid me in both land and sea shots. There is a lot of information available and I was trying to dedicate time learning and not searching for books. Referrals to a course are also appreciated, if there are any Southern Floridians that know of some quality photo instructors.

In southern Florida, contact Steven Frink. He's located in Key Largo.

There's unlimited sources of info here within these forum pages if you'll just take time to look through them.

For basic photography, one of the best I've ever read is Dave Read's Photo Instruction articles. Although written for film, the principals of how arperture and shutter speeds work together is universal.

Ditto to what Dee said. For Canon users there's a website for UW photography: http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/uwphoto/index-e.html

Jay also has a few good tips: http://www.jaytreat.com/Diving/Photography/Basics.htm

Some useful tips for UWP here too:

Olympus also has some excellent online lessons (portraits/tabletop/etc): http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/lessons/default_main.asp
