Why, just need to pass GUE's rebreather course to own one. Good luck and you need to be massively solid in the water.

Sorry that was snarky, I would talk to Doug m, about fundies, then JJ or David about the RB80 but you need to do either T1 or C1 before the Rb course. If There is a need to dive one then there is a way. If your into CCr then IANTD can set you up now. We're more conservative b/c is pretty serious stuff, like anything GUE is about keeping you breathing, and having fun, while doing some serious stuff.

makes perfect sense

So it seems based on the Quest article that we are closer than ever to seeing a GUE CCR course. I wonder what units they are using in the beta courses and whether they are off the shelf or modified.
I found Clares thread fascinating on how she modified the JJ-CCR -> My journey to CCR and there's a GUE diver local to me who has basically followed the same mod path.

It may not me the official stance, but Liam and several other guys over here also use the JJ. I've seen both, off the shelf and modified to work with rb80 procedures. I had my first JJ flight this week and I'm watching the debate very closely.

It's coming. And I just don't see the benefit for more than a handful of divers in the world

I asked this question at Jarrod's talk on the Mars here the other night, because he specifically said that next year, they probably will do all the dives on the ship on CCR, because they have found that exhaust bubbles are oxygenating the water enough to cause corrosion on the wreck. They're even going to use argon suit AND wing inflation, for the same reason. So I asked him if GUE was changing their stance on CCRs, and he told me (which I knew) that the training council has done a good deal of experimentation with various makes and models. (JJ himself was out here a couple of years ago, working with Leon on the Meg.) They have settled on the JJ (and it's not because of the name :) ) and a class is in development, but as already stated, it will be for the people who are doing the dives that need CCRS, so C2 or T2 will be prerequisites.
