He is probaly still recovering...

Must have been a pretty intense class! I guess without a report, we can only guess as to how it went down...

Don: MILLER! WHAT IS THE MOD OF A 39% NITROX MIXTURE?

MikeM: Well, assuming a ppO2 of...

Don: WRONG, IT WAS A TRICK QUESTION! NEXT UP, GUERRERO. I TAKE OFFENSE AT YOUR NAME, YOU SHALL NOW BE KNOWN AS UTDRRERO. NOW TELL ME, WHAT TYPE OF KNOT DO YOU USE TO ATTACH A SNAP TO THE LONG HOSE? DO NOT WAIT FOR THE TRANSLATION, ANSWER THE QUESTION!!

MikeG: I would use a ree...

Don: KATHYDEE, YOU FAIL!

Kathy: What? Why me?

Don: YOU DIDN'T JUMP IN TO HELP, AND NOW THE WHOLE TEAM HAS PERISHED. PUT ON THESE DOUBLE-130s AND DROP AND GIVE ME 50! MILLER, USE THIS STRAW TO FILL UP THIS AL80, I WANT TO SEE 3000PSI BY MORNING.

Yeah, that's how it must have been...

Close. But Don has that demeanor in which he just seems so sweet while he rips apart your entire being.

That's what everybody says after the standard video review/debrief  Pretty amazing how you can look so different from how you think you look (both good and bad), huh?

Ask him how he feels now that we got done with the class :D

Oh Mike M. - now you be nice to Mike G. :)

Glad you made it home & too work ok!

Great class!!! I wish it went on for a few more days! I already miss it & can't wait to take all these new skills into the pool for more pratice & dive them.

I loved Don's teaching & without the stress of pass/fail - we all had a blast laughing at how bad we were while learning tons. Each classmate started with very different dive skills and dive goals but over the weekend it was quite exciting to watch everybody grow!

Now busy digging my way through this heaping pile of grad school work I put off - but will post a class report soon enough :D!

What amazed me was seeing a shot of me venting my drysuit. I was taught to chicken wing it to basically localize the air and "push" it out. In the video you see me roll to my right and it starts venting, I then chicken wing it and it stops venting (cause the arm is now down against my side), I put my arm back up and it starts venting again :D

The video has to be the most ego crushing terribly useful thing I've had done to me in a scuba class. Like you said, some of the things you thought you were horrible at weren't so bad. Other things you didn't realize you were doing show up as clear as day.

"that's not me in my drysuit"

The video de-briefs are absolutely the most valuable tool....I can't believe that not everyone uses them! It's one of the best things about the UTD/GUE classes.

I'll be eagerly waiting for class reports :D

I just took Essentials a couple months ago so it's vividly replaying in my brain
