Am I reading the new GUE CCR standards correctly.

If you are tech 1 (or tech 2) certified, and want to become CCR T1 certified, you have to do 2 courses. 1) CCR Fundamentals and 2) Uprgrade to CCR Tech Diver Level 1.....

Aren't they concerned that an easier pathway is for Tech1 divers to cross over to MOD 1 Helitrox 45m and then do MOD 2 60m with another agency?

Yes, you are reading the standards correctly. You might also need to take a rescue course. I don't speak for GUE but I doubt they're concerned.

It only ends up being 3 extra days of training minus the rescue course if you’ve not done one yet.

I think splitting it up into fundies and ccr t1 makes some some sense considering a lot of people have described the old ccr1 as fundies on the loop. This slower progression should likely make the classes less stressful for people.

I showed up to T1 and C1 very prepared from a fundamentals standpoint and the classes were actually fun this stands in contrast to fundies where most of the class was struggling with bouyancy

3 extra days and prob 25 extra dives air dil no deco. (so 3 months)

Look it doesn't bother/effect me, I have dived with tech 1 and 2 divers and they are usually pretty solid. But if I was tech 2 and wanted to dive rebreather it may.

If GUE are aligning the rec side of the certs maybe they should align the ccr side to tdi or iantd.

It's not easier, though. CCR fundamentals is a MOD 1 type class. As a T1 diver, you can do a CCR T1 Upgrade, which requires significantly less instruction and dive time than the regular CCR T1 class.

FWIW, IANTD requires 50 dives before their MOD2-level class. Seems pretty well aligned to me.

CCR fundamentals is a MOD 1 type class.
CCR fundamentals is similar to Air Dil No Deco (30m) in TDI. Which I would argue is not MOD 1 and is setup for students without any deco experience. I have heard one instructor refer to it as a pity pass.

MOD 1 would be the next cert level either Air Dil Deco (40m) or Helitrox (45m), which are both open to students with prior AN/DP certs.

Or are you saying you can do the T1 upgrade concurrent to CCR Fundamentals, so its like MOD 1?

Meh. If you’re diving in the GUE system you’re probably not concerned about building experience and you’re certainly not trying to rush through the programs.

It’s interesting when you compare TDI having a 20 dive requirement before taking the air dip class and 50 before helitrox.

Versus GUE requiring 150 non training dive before taking ccr fundies and then an additional 50 ccr dives with log files provided post ccr fundies to take ccr t1…

The rec side was name changes only more or less from a standards standpoint.
