Well I see our time is up for today. I think the Group made
excellent progress getting these Issues out. We still need to work on our anger managment though. In our next session we'll explore why GUE people need to have a longer hose than everyone else. What does that signify? Could it be compensation for some other ...shortage? Dr. Freud will join our next session to help answer the question "Does size matter?":doctor:

So I'll take it by your response that you'll decline the invitation to actually stay focused and directly respond to a question..

Your approach to this topic has been rather peculiar. From the outset you compare our agency to a cult, you deline the invitation to directly discuss any perceived problems and then you suggest that the advocates of GUE need anger management..

You have a strange approach to resolving a problem that you suggest is very important to you.. Is this how you approach your law practcie because it hardly seems productive to me..

Again, I remain available to answer any direct questions that you have, but I'll decline the opportunity to engage in innuendo. It seems to me if you have a case to make, then make it.. If you want to engage in speculation, innuendo and demogogery then perhaps it's wiser not to suggest that those on the opposing side of the issue need counseling, because from where I see the events unfolding you really haven't positioned yourself or your cause very well..

These two philosophys have a lot to offer. They're a wealth of information in many respects and should be respected. However, take any subject and you will find people who take it to the extreme. Unfortunately I have crossed paths with some. I tried to be polite and walk away when a difference of opinion was unsolvable. This peticular discussion was about Apex Vs Poseidon in cold water diving. My Poseidons are a high end reg.. The navy sees fit to use them for years. Apex are good as well. I'm not useing a freakin garden hose. If you don't like something someone is useing, barring it being unsafe, let it go.... People are different accept it and try to get along........ Put down the GUE bible and try it for yourself instead of being the scuba police.....

Wreck/Tec,

I always try to offer reason, but some people such as Lawman has proven in the instant case, aren't interested in answers they are interested in issues designed to create controversy..

As to why we stand against Poseidon's you answered your own question when you said "barring it being unsafe".. Some of the Poseidon's are *upstream* regulators and as such if, or when, they fail they will fail closed.. That means you'll get no air as opposed to a freeflow.. In a case of a failure, I'd prefer to have too much air then none at all..

As a ancillary concern they take different size hose so you can't switch out with standard hoses, they can't be taken apart underwater if they need to be cleared without a special tool, and in an air share emergency they are cumbersome.. But in my mind it's the safety component of the upstream that is the most problematic with certain Poseidon's..

Hope that clarifies our position in a polite way..

Dave Sweetin relating how he tossed his Poseidon into the Ginnie Springs equipment barrel after it failed to deliver gas at depth comes to mind :)

BTW, MHK, a few of us are quite heartened that you're participating on the board :) Thanks

That's what you get for diving with a stroke like Sweetin ;-)

BTW, glad to be here and absent a very minor few, this board is great to be on so thanks for having me..

Let me know if I can help..

that MHK, along with the Pugster and a few others have done a tremendous job at dispelling the myth that all DIR/GUE divers are cretins. Lawman has obviously started this thread with only chaos in mind. Some of you have contributed to the chaos inadvertently... others have taken away his thunder by their shear power of reasoning and restraint. Kudos to those of you who fit the latter description.

rec.scuba is chaos. The Board is more like civilized disarray some times. Chaos is not always a bad thing.

Matt,MHK..etc.THanx for being such positive examples of DIR think.Even Pete respects the tenets while disagreeing with some.Mutual reespect is the reason this is my only general diving board.I learn from my betters and strive to impart faithfully what lessons I've actually learned. While it can be said that ignoring a "trollish" poster can end a conversation isn't it better to welcome the opportunity to express ones views amicably. This affords the uninformed lurker the chance to make thier own decisions rather than to only see threads which give credence to Lawmans view.
