I had the opportunity to dive a little known and not very often dived airplane wreck at Catalina on Monday. I believe the last time anybody was on the wreck was 2017.

There are at least 5 Grumman Goose accidents that happened while they were flying to them to/from Catalina Island (along with a few Mallards). I first read about this wreck in an article by Joseph Dovala in Advanced Diver Magazine (although he thought it was the plane that crashed in Sept 1979 but that one was salvaged) and it has been on my "hit list" ever since.

The background on the wreck along with photos and a couple short video shots from DJ Mansfield are posted at:

The Goose (Catalina Island, 200+ fsw)

I know of at least one other deep, but dive-able, Goose at Catalina. I'm hoping to get there soon to document and hopefully ID it.

Below is a photo of one of the props to whet your appetite. :)
