Burst disks are mandatory in Australia too where SCUBA tanks are required to be hydroed and stamped every year.
Yet the burst disks are almost never checked… ticking time bombs IMO!

In the United States, in order to be filled in a commercial setting, meaning from a dive shop, a tank must have a DOT certification. European tanks don’t have DOT certifications.

Faber steel tanks are manufactured here in Italy and have US DOT certification... Same for other EU makers...
Also San-o-sub valves are manufactured here in Italy.

but they are made to US DOT specifications to be exported and sold here, same as gear sold in Europe is made to CE

there are US DOT 300 bar din valves for the 7/8 UNF neck cylinders

if you have ever seen an industrial gas cylinder fail without a burst disc vs with a burst disc, you would see why they aren't a terrible idea. i've seen footage of a T cylinder punching through the reinforced concrete wall of a containment bunker like the koolaid man at an overseas site vs a similar failure on the east coast where it made a bit of a mess spinning and rolling around but didn't break out of containment at least.
