Hello all. You have a great site. Lots of useful info.
I got my OW certification 2 months ago in Sydney, Australia. Been diving here as well as in Jervis Bay - just great fun! I've booked myself for 2 weeks at the Great Barrier Reef - can't wait.
Was linked here from google when I was looking up info on underwater photography. I was actually thinking of buying a digital camera to bring with me on my trip.
After reading thru' some of the threads on UW photography, I've decided to leave the photography to the experts. I really didn't want to lug my computer along with me, and I don't think I would necessarily take any good pictures. The threads discussing cameras, bouyancy control and reef damage were particularly enlightening. I guess if my friends ask me for photos of my trip, I'll just download some of the numerous amateur photos from the net.
ut:
Seriously, I've found that the discussions covered most of my concerns regarding UW digital photography, allowing me to come to the above conclusion. I'm still having loads of fun just floating over the reef and "flying" over the rocks.
Thanks and happy diving.
