I am relocating from the Northeast (was a regular diver at Dutch Springs, PA) and was trying to sift through some of the posts on here to see if there are any good spots to dive near Elizabethtown, KY? I dive dry, doubles, don't mind cold, but do mind lo viz. :)

Any advice on nearby or some not-so-nearby "great" dive sites would be greatly appreciated. ETA is third week in April. I hope to hear from some of you soon.

Thanks!

Tom

Hey Tom,
Welcome to the area! Some of us are going to meet up the weekend
of May 13th, http://www.divecerulean.com/ we would be glad to meet
up with you. Krobi and I will be doing a fair amount of diving at Falling
Rock scuba park this summer, LaGrange just noth of Louisville, Joe will be
officially opening the quarry in May. Keep in touch and we will do some diving.
Now I'm not going to say much about vis, it can vary greatly around here,
anywhere from 5' to 30', we find out when we get there!

Chris,

...new Avatar? I hope your contacts clear up soon - that much blinking will dry them out!

Hey, still hoping that I can join the Louisville BB Gang again this Summer, but don't want anything major to be cause of anyone pulling off the list - just maybe a schedule conflict.

I may think about the Cerulean trip.

I guess you can say I DO need to get in some water REAL SOON!
I sure hope you can make Cerulean, if not, we will meet up at Joe's.
Don't forget, later this summer, Mermit, should be a GREAT weekend!

Hope we can dive some this summer. If lo vis is a problem, you may be very sad :)

I think my signature says it all. Even the worst day at Joe's is better than a day out of water.
So when is this Mermet weekend? Anything even tentative?

Chris, your avatar reminds me of Porky's. :D

I mind lo viz --- because that's about all there is up here. I guess I can live with it as long as I am diving! :)

That quarry looks down right nice! Does it have any platforms underwater?

Where do the new divers go to get certified? Just curious...

I'll keep you and KROBI posted on my status as I get this move completed. I look forward to diving with you. Thanks for all the replies!

Hmmm, I had not thought about Porky's, maybe I can have some fun with that one.
Mermit will be later on this summer, I think when we do decide a couple month notice
may bring out some more divers. And we can not forget to post on the Midwest forum
and get some of the locals involved. Better yet, your over there more often than I am,
shout if you hear of a long weekend event.
My old Dacor reg is boxed and ready to ship down to Larry, I decided to go ahead and
tradeup to the Abyss model, get that done and some tanks vis'd and I'm ready to go!

Well I'm quite embarassed, I was down there last year and I don't remember
any platforms. I'm sure there are some in there, we were just not looking for them.
Around the greater Louisville area and Lexington, most certifications are done out
at Falling Rock. Best deep diving is down at Mermit Springs Quarry
http://www.mermetsprings.com/
or at Pennyroyal Quarry
http://www.pennyroyalscuba.com/
Which brings to mind, we are going to go to Mermit, anyone want to go down
to Pennyroyal and visit with Dennis, and maybe get some deep diving in?
