We have dived in the Scuba Park, but the waterline is so low is not worth the trouble. We have also dived the Batch Plant (Deep Diver Cert) interesting , but again, not all that much to see, you can get deep 100' +. Our favorite place is at Lake Mohave (45 minutes of extra drive time), it's on the Arizona side of Laughlin / Bullhead City, the dive site is called Cabin Site Point. You can get fairly deep (50'+) and there are some boat wrecks and two buses, the water is also pretty clear and you can usually score cheap lodging in Laughlin.:crafty:

Lake Mohave is definitely better for shore diving. Cabinsite has a bus, van, and boat right off shore. The bus is at about 50', the van 30', and the boat 30'. I've gotten to just over 80' off of Cabinsite. The river bed sits at around 100'.

Mohave has some advantages over Mead, less silt and the water is cleaner but the depth is just not there. At 150+, Mead is the place to be, clear, cold and looks like snow covered mountain tops with great walls, caves and wrecks. Please don't judge Mead by it's shore diving alone, because Mohave will win every time in that aspect.

Lake Mead Tony:
scuba jerm,
There is a lot of good diving spots in Mead. I like castle reef and sentinal (wreck alley). Just started mapping south of boulder island, and it looks good so far.

Thanks Tony,

I've been meaning to get down there soon. I'll be sure and contact you before I do.

Hi Mario,
Tony Croke here from Ireland.I will be visiting Las Vegas in March 07.Could you help me in letting me know who to contact to set up a dive there.I am a PADI advanced diver with about 50 logged dives,
Thanks in advance,(anthony.croke@bms.com)
Tony.

Hello Tony,

Coming to Las Vegas in March 07..How fun!!! The only place to dive in Las Vegas is Lake Mead. I have to say Lake Mead is not the best diving. We usually drive to Bullhead City, AZ (about 2 hours) or places in California. But, if you are here for vacation and want to get wet, we can get a couple of dive buddies together!!! Would you be bringing your equip, or would you need to rent?

We have been thinking about Ireland diving???? What's it like, say in Feb??

So what are the caves like? Anything worth penetrating, or are these just short caverns?

WOW, started in April and doing DIVE MASTER already??? You must be diving!! Congrats on the certification(s) and welcome to ScubaBoard!!

Dive-aholic,
Just short caverns, nothing like we had in the midwest. I have heard of old mines that were flooded when the lake was formed, but the old maps are not very good, but I'm still looking. My cave gear is still mostly packed up.
