I am thrilled to say that I am FINALLY learning how to be a SCUBA diver. I have only wanted this for...over 40 years. I have snorkeled as often as possible for the past dozen years and have always wanted to see more of those creatures that elude me as I bob on the surface. I will be finished my certification course by the end of September. I live in New England where the water is close to intolerable. My dive instructor promises me that I won't be cold when we go to do my ocean dives. However, I vastly prefer the tropical oceans and go there every chance that I get. Next time I'm there, I an go diving. I am beside myself with excitement. I am looking foward to 'meeting' fellow travelers with the same interest.

Aloha and welcome to the board and the best thrill you can have. Your gonna LOVE this sport/lifestyle!

Hi Kay,
Welcome to diving. My dive instructor was from the New England area. I know from him that there's a lot of great diving up there. Stay warm and dive safe. :azvatar:

Welcome to Scubaboard! You'll find the community here mostly friendly and helpful. Keep us up to date on your certification.

Welcome to ScubaBoard!

Congratulations on finally getting into our great sport! Sounds like maybe you'll be getting a dry suit soon. ;)

Don't forget to fill out your profile, so that we can add context to your future posts. Also, once we know where you are geographically, you may find that you'll have a whole bunch of new dive buddies to choose from locally.

Dive safe!

Christian

Welcome to the Board! Congrats on you starting your OW certification. Keep us updated on your progress!

Congratulations, I'm very excited for you. After learning SCUBA, you'll probably never want to snorkel again! Remember to be patient with the skills you will be learning, and take every opportunity to practice practice practice. Lots of luck!

Welcome Aboard!!!

It's addictive, but who cares?!?!?

Good friends and good info. What could be better???

P.S. - If you have not already done so, please fill out your profile.

It is great to see someone so excited about diving. Keep up the excitement. If you are ever in my neck of the woods, we'll have to go diving.

Thank you all very much for the warm welcome. I have done the profile thing as you requested. I am really looking forward to lots of conversations about diving and will undoubtably have a zillion questions. I'll keep you posted on my progress. My next lesson is Thursday, then two next week, then I can begin my ocean dive training. I hope I see lobsters...how fun!
I hear that the water is much murkier in New England than in the tropics. Have you found that to be true? I don't generally go in the water up here because it's extremely cold so I haven't even snorkelled up here.
