Welcome Aboard!!!

It's addictive, but who cares?!?!?

Good friends and good info. What could be better???

P.S. - If you have not already done so, please fill out your profile.

Roatan, I want to go. (read it as if it was said by little kids in the back seat of a car!)

Matt the Wonder Boy:
Greetings from Matt,

Welcome to Scuba Board my fellow Minnesotan! I hope you enjoy being a member here, there are many nice and helpful scuba divers. It's a great place for divers to meet. How long have you been diving? Take care from Matt. :11:

Thanks Matt - I've been diving for 3 years now. Open Water check dive in Coz, then wreck diving in Ft. Lauderdale the following year, and week-long Blackbeard Cruise last Nov. This summer I got a fantastic O'Neill 7/5 wetsuit to dive locally, at first to just get the dive count up (32 total now), but now I'm really getting into the variation f/ warm water diving. Next: Roatan in Oct! :dazzler1:

Cool.... Another person from Minnesota!!! I was beginning to think I was the only one. As you'll see I'm located near the Twin Cities.

I was just mentioning that wreck diving sounds really cool, especially in Lake Superior. But it will probably be a while before I do that since I'm just taking my OWC in September. My 1st OW dive will be in Square Lake. I'm really excited and I've convinced another friend to join me in this great adventure. She is the one that found information about wreck diving in Lake Superior, so that is a goal we are going to work towards. We also plan on taking a trip in early June 2005 to visit her brother in Florida and go diving.

Anyway, welcome.

Pam

Congrats! Square Lake is a great place to get your comfort level up - visablility is if'y this time of year, but there are great platforms to tool around (look for a wiley BIG mouth bass hovering around one of them). My 2nd big trip after doing my OW in Coz was Ft. Lauderdale - GREAT wreck dives & decent reef structure - plenty of sea life. You'll have a great time. Tip concerning Superior: check out Smith diving - they have dive master guided trips on their calendar. Cost is $25 per person, but worth it for your first wreck dive in a more challenging environment. Hey maybe we'll run into each other sometime!

Corey

PS: Lake Wazee is also a MUST do summer dive.

chris hecker:
greetings from the brainerd lakes area!!! don't forget about the crosby mine pits east of brainerd, if your going to be in the area, let me know, its very clear, good vis and plenty to see!!!

Thanks Chris - funny you should mention Crosby Mines. In my roster of "must do dives" this summer, after Wazee in July (fantastic!), my buddy & I (& his wife) tooled up to Crosby to dive the mines. After getting a little lost on those brutal roads/logging trails (are the "mines" the lakes or the potholes?? :death2: ) we dove Louise, then got even more lost finding Alstead for a couple for dives. Then its a whole new story getting out of the mines (took us an hour to find the Cty Rd.). Diving was all in all great, but I have a feeling we missed out on a lotta good stuff we just didn't know about. Sooo... I would definitely like to get together with someone who knows the area.

Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!
:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue: Look around our various forums - everything from New-To-Scuba to Instructors-Only to Dive Medicine.

I dive a 1 mil Long in Roatan; want to guard against vibrio infection if I scrap my leg on the ladder. You'll be blown away! Run a Search of Roatan and read on.

Thanks - I've been studying up on nearly all the posts on Roatan (I think I've gotten to the 11th page!) & have picked up many, many great tips on everything from the "no-see-em's", to the glorious reputation of TACA airlines ('read many of your posts!). I'm really looking forward to trip coming up soon, as well as the great info from this board.
