Hello and welcome. I'm in MA as well (Boston/Cambridge). The water's too cold for me right now (I don't own a drysuit), maybe I'll see you guys around (in the water?) in summer.

i to am a new to post on this board, but have been going to coz for the last 20 years.
in my humble opinion the best place to stay with kids is the allegro or grand. they have an awesome kids club and you can split your 2 tank dives at the resort to check on the kids, my son is 12 and dives as often as possible, my wife usually split the moring dives with him on the shallow dive and then one of us does and afternoon.
there are some places you can go to snorkle, Fiesta Americana and if you feel like braving the rocks you can sneek in at the marina on paradise.
