The largest, closest concentration of white sharks in the US is at the Farallons during seal pup season. The Farallons are a group of islands 30 miles off the coast of San Francisco. Thousands of seals arrive on these rocks every year to birth their young, and great white sharks follow to feed.

The outfit below does cage dives in the Farallons, if you want to learn more:

Wow... 800 bucks for ONE day.

D.
Yeah, but only 30 miles offshore from a US port. More conveninet than Africa, etc.

I imagine a good shark cage and professional staff take up boat space that could be otherwise used for paying customers on a dive trip, and - we do want a good cage and staff. :14: Then too, all that money is spent to support a busines that runs 2-1/2 months a year.

Hello every-one. My name is Lisa and i'm brand new here. I have been an open water diver for 15 years. I have always dreamed of diving with a Great white shark. I was interested to know if any-one has done this. I have looked into trips but would like to know which ones are good. Any ideas or input would be great.
Thanks

It may be more convenient but africa is way more fun and probably a far different experience. Plus the diving is fantastic and diverse. From the cold waters of Cape Town to the Tropical waters of Durban and Sodwana Bay.

Africa also boasts Mozambique, Zanzibar and the Red Sea so I guess a trip here could be a great dive experience

I'm sure that's right - would love to do so. I was just commenting that $800 for a day had it's reasons.

Do you know what Great White Cage trips cost there? I've seen the pics of the snorkeler free diving with them and that has no appeal to me!! :11:

I think Shark Diving is around R1000 although I have not actually done it. I think its about R6.50 to one dollar.
